Our one day online course (via Zoom) will help schools to draw up their sustainability policy and develop an achieveable and manageable action plan.
We will cover:
- what is required (policy etc)
- engaging learners, parents and staff
- the role of the sustanibility lead in your school
- key components of the policy and plan:
While you might not need a document labeled "Sustainability Policy," you absolutely need the substance of one in the form of a Climate Action Plan (CAP), with leadership in place, as part of the UK government's educational strategy.
At the end of the day you will receive an 'action pack' to support the implementation in your school, containing policy templates, presentations for governors and staff, fliers for parents and information for your website. The day will be delivered by a climate specialist/researcher who has over 20 years of experience in school leadership.
Our next course for schools is running on the 10th April 2026. Use the link below to find out more.
If your school is looking for some more general support for adapting to the chnaging climate, then we also offer a one day INSET which can be tailored to your situation and requirements.
The outline would be:
The issue of climate change is both pressing and complex. As educators we have the responsibility to ensure that not only do we act to make changes, but that we empower our young people to make the right decisions too.
The day will be in two parts - the morning will help you understand the issues and the afternoon will provide you with a wide range of activities you can use with your young people / pupils to help them make the link between what they know, what they can do and how their actions can make a difference. Plus we will also look at how you can make your school more sustainable.
We will look at the key aspects of climate change and consider questions such as:
- which is better a plastic bag or a paper bag or a bag for life ?
- what is net-zero?
- why is carbon such an issue and why has it become more significant in recent years?
- what have cows got to do with climate change?
- is electricity as green as we think?
- what impact will a warming planet have on food supplies and water?
We promise that the day won’t be doom-laden, but interesting, engaging and enjoyable and you will be able to work with your young people/pupils to address this pressing issue.
All attendees will receive a copy of our activity pack which contains explanatory posters, PowerPoint presentations and materials to use in your school.
The day will be delivered by an academic who has significant experience of working within the climate change arena and schools.
Why not get in touch and see if we can support your school. We are adaptable and flexible, meeting your needs not our own.
